First Day of Preschool!

Novalie’s First DayToday was Novalie’s first day of preschool. I can’t believe it! I was combing her hair this morning and I said, “I am going to miss you today.” She replied, “I am not going to miss you.” I said, “That is sad.” She replied to that by saying, “Don’t worry about it, Mom, you will come pick me up and see me again.” Now, I always thought I was supposed to be reassuring her, but instead she was reassuring me! She went right in and knew exactly where her cubby was and put “Silverwood” (her stuffed bear that she brought to show the class) in her cubby and went and asked Miss Terri (her teacher) if she would put a smock on her and she did and started painting. How funny and how great! I am glad she was like that instead of crying! When I picked her up, she didn’t stop talking for 15 minutes straight about everything that she did at preschool. It was fun and I am so glad we decided to send her. She really is ready for school, school, but preschool 2 days a week will be just fine. How cute and what a big girl! Everyone says it, but it is so true….time goes by so fast!

Moments of sweetness

From the moment Kevin and I saw Novalie for the first time kicking and screaming under her heat lamp in the nursery of the hospital, we knew she was absolutely Novalie and absolutely WILD! Novalie has high levels of energy all the time, I mean HIGH and she has a hard time sitting still. What 4 year old doesn’t? So, we don’t get quiet, peaceful moments that often with Novalie. Even during sacrament meeting. I hold my breathe for the whole meeting hoping we make it through without too big of an incident. And we just have one child to worry about. Yesterday during sacrament meeting, Novalie had one of those moments that makes you so proud as a parent and makes you want the whole world to stop and just take in the sweetness that is in Novalie. She brought 3 small stuffed animals (beanie babies-yes, my mother has every beanie baby ever made and therefore we have more than any child ever should have)to church. She lines them up on her lap and gets out her little Book of Mormon and starts “reading” it to her animals (whispering, she finally has that part down). She would stop and make sure they were listening and understood what she was reading. Then it was time for the prayer and she folded all their hands (paws) and lined them all up. It was SO sweet. Novalie has read her animals and baby dolls books many, many, many times before, but just seeing her read to them from her little Book of Mormon and folding their arms was so much sweeter.
