Spring Concert, Wipeout & Easter Eggs

Novalie had her spring music concert last week.  I was really impressed with her music teacher and the performance.  She picked fun, upbeat, short songs and all the kids were so cute and did a great job.  Of course, Novalie was the cutest!

One of our favorite family shows is Wipeout.  Novalie really, really wants to be on Wipeout. Like now, not when she is an adult.  This does not surprise me one bit.  Yesterday, we watched a re-run and Novalie decided to make her own Wipeout course in her bedroom.  I introduced her as contestant  #1 and asked her how she was going to get through the course.  Her response, “I am not going to get in the mud or the water and I am going to use my batgirl batarangs.”  If you have seen the show, you know some of the contestants are a little crazy and so Novalie was talking in a crazy voice jumping around flexing her muscles.  It was so funny.  Man, I wish I had a video camera for moments like that.  Anyhow, we both had gone through the course a few times and it was Novalie’s turn and as she jumped into the basket, which is the final obstacle, she cut her pinkie toe really good.  I mean a whole thick slice with the skin barely hanging on.  I felt so bad for her and our game had to come to an end.  Who knew you could get so injured from a laundry basket.

This is part of the course.  We had to jump across the big pillows (equivalent to the big balls).  The blankets are all mud.  Land on the bed.

From the bed we had to jump onto these pillows (which represent the sucker punch wall) and slide across them without falling into the mud.

To finish the course, we had to jump and land in the laundry basket.  It looks harmless, right?  Wrong!  It hurt my baby!

With all this dark, cold, rainy, snowy weather, we have been going a little crazy being inside so much.  I have to keep coming up with things to do to keep the T.V. off.  This is one activity we have done that was fun and we all made an egg animal or monster.  Novalie really got into it and this morning she woke up and did more.

Happy Spring (when it gets here).

Novalie’s Letter

Last night when I got home from my meeting there was a letter for me on the table from Novalie.  Kevin typed as Novalie spoke.  It is so fantastic and sweet, so I thought I would share it.

I love you.  I like you.

Mom’s favorite color is purple.  And she is special to me.  And she is beautiful.  She likes apples.  She has fun with me.

She’s beautiful.  And she likes cubs.  She likes butterflies and ladybugs.  She’s my best mommy I ever had.  She’s cool.  She bakes cookies for me.  And she likes me because she loves me.  Because she colors with me.

Bees are beautiful.  She likes to watch me play and dance and color and paint.

She likes to clean with me and she cleaned with me today.

Bats are cool.  Hearts are cool.  My mom is beautiful.  She is very very very special to me and she loves me a lot.

Octopusses are cool in the sea.  Octopusses, octopusses, octopusses.

My mom feeds me a lot.   And Apple is cute and adorable and she’s fat, too, and she’s beautiful, and she’s a little big.  And she’s my best hamster I ever had.  So’s my mom.

Cougars are cool.  Sheeps are cool.  Apple’s cute and fuzzy and soft, too.

And because she gave me a dollar today for cleaning the bathtub.

And because she likes my singing, and my cheerleading, and my microphone that I make all the time with bouncy balls.  Bouncy balls are very pretty microphones.

And because she likes to sing with me a lot.  Well, sometimes.

And because she reads homework with me.

And because she makes play-dough with me sometimes, and she let me dry out play-dough and make a dolphin sculpture.  Dolphin sculptures are beautiful.

And because she’s very pretty and she likes to eat with me and she’s very beautiful.

Cubs, cubs, cubs, octopus.

Mummies are cool, and they’re scary, too.  Monsters can be any shape if they want to.

I like soccer and I like Batgirl too and I want to be a Batgirl Astronaut and we pretended to go to the Egyptian desert today and my dad likes to play soccer and he goes to work a lot and he’s my best dad ever.

For the science fair at school, the Kindergartner’s had to come up with a collection to display.  Novalie displayed her bead collection.  She did a really good job and it turned out well.  She had to give a presentation to her class about her beads.  This is what she said. “My name is Novalie.  I collected beads.  The most is green, the least is yellow.  My favorite color is blue, but I like all the colors.”  We are proud of her, she did a great job!

In the midst of all the stress and craziness that is this day (tonight is the R.S. Birthday Dinner), we did manage to get a visit from a leprechaun.  While Novalie was at school he snuck in (he is really sneaky because I didn’t see him either) and hid gold and silver chocolate coins around the house.  Novalie was so surprised when she got home and had a blast hunting around the house to collect the silver and gold!

Novalie is fed up!

I was driving Novalie to school this past week and she was talking about winter and how she couldn’t wait until it was warm out to go swimming and then she said:

“I guess Jesus can’t handle summer.”

Laughing, I asked her “why can’t He handle summer?”

“Because it has been winter forever!  He must like being cold”

Last night as I was struggling to get Novalie to stay in her bed and go to sleep, she blurted out, “I just can’t take this any longer.”  I asked, “What?”  She said, “having to go to sleep every night.  My body doesn’t need this much sleep.”

She is so funny!
