If Novalie had her way, she would be a real life mermaid living in the arctic where she could both swim with the dolphins and snuggle up to the polar bears. She wanted to be a polar bear for Halloween all year (she reminds me all year what she wants to be in case I forget when Halloween actually rolls around), but changed her mind the second she saw this mermaid costume. She makes one beautiful mermaid.
I am so proud of Novalie this Halloween. She hasn’t complained once about not being able to go trick-or-treating. I guess the ward’s trunk-or-treat and the mall doing their trick-or-treating early helped.
The best part of Halloween was the primary activity today. The kids dressed up in their costumes and went to Bishop Place (senior living facility) to sing songs and hand out candy to the residents during their lunch. Novalie and I were sitting on the steps inside Bishop Place and this was our conversation.
N: “I feel sad for these people.”
N: “Because they don’t have a home.”
M: “This is their home. See all those doors? They are their rooms that they live in.”
N: “Like a hotel?”
M: “Yes, like a hotel (which is the coolest thing to a kid). They are happy here. Look at all the friends they have.”
N: “My heart feels really really warm right now.”
M: “Do you know why?”
N: “Yes, it is the Holy Ghost telling me that Heavenly Father is really happy I am here and got to make these old people happy.”
I gave her a big hug and kiss and told her she was absolutely right and so very very sweet.
On the way home we had a great conversation about testimonies and the Holy Ghost. She just amazes me! I am so glad and thankful the primary had that activity and that we took the time to go.
This is going to be very short. I just had to hurry and write it down for the record. Novalie has never said this before. Novalie, “we have such a sweet, peaceful home. Home sweet home. Ahhhh!” Then she jumps into my arms and gives me the best hug. Love love love her FOREVER!
As I was scanning through the pictures this morning on our camera, I came across these. I am not sure where I was or what I was doing, but I know this happened when I was not there. I am happy that Kevin and Novalie have a good time together.
Here is a short list of my recent guilty pleasures.
1. Mini Shopaholicby Shopie Kinsella
Love me some Becky (Bloomwood) Brandon. She is up to her usual antics which at times irritate me and at other times have me laughing out loud. It is a no brainer good time.
2. Poisons Greatest Hits
I am a country music girl through and through, but I love listening to Poison when I am driving alone in the car at volumes that are sure to do some damage to my eardrums. It is especially fun when I am on my way to play Kevin in tennis. It pumps me up to WIN!
3. The Real Housewives
There are several different Housewives series. They are all the same. A group of catty, self righteous, ridiculously vain women who provide great entertainment because of just how ridiculous they all are. It is highly amusing to me that these are actual women living their actual lives. Mind numbing stupidity that is hilarious! Every town has a group of “real housewives.” I have the cast of The Real Housewives of Pullman all picked out. Ask me to be the casting director. I won’t let you down. I know who they are.
I don’t know what it is about Facebook that pulls me in every single day. It is great for congratulations, happy birthdays, understanding, compassion, laughter, sympathy, empathy, advice, connections, keeping in touch, sharing useful information, warnings, being heard, celebrating, ect… Do people really care what I am doing today or feeling? Do people really want to see so many pictures of my beautiful daughter? I don’t know, but sometimes is it nice to think someone does.
I am just going to share those four. I don’t want you to know all my secret guilty pleasures. There would be no fun in that! What are your guilty pleasures??
I know when Novalie has a day off of school that I need a craft project.
We love arts and crafts! We love doing them together even more!
We were excited to make jellyfish!
Simple, cute, FUN craft if you are looking for an idea.
(I do not take credit for the idea…Family Fun Magazine)
Novalie’s two jellyfish she made!
This is my jellyfish and one of Novalie’s hanging in her bedroom. She explained to me that they were mother/daughter jellyfish. And she made them hold tentacles. She is the greatest! ♥♥♥♥♥
