Last Friday night, I taught Novalie the basics of sewing. She was so excited and picked it right up!
Novalie listened very well and followed my instructions. She pushed the foot pedal slowly and occasionally, in true Novalie style, she would go super fast and loose control. She likes to be speedy in all things. As she got more comfortable, she found a nice steady slower speed.
I remember seeing on Pinterest awhile back, the idea to take a beach towel and turn it into a pool bag. I suggested this to Novalie and she was all for it. We found an old towel and cut it up and I showed her how to do it. She made 4 of them before I had to make her stop to go to bed. She also made her mouse a new little sleeping bag for her cage. She was hooked on sewing! She did such a great job and I went to bed so happy that I took the opportunity.
The next morning, Novalie woke up and asked me if we had another towel to spare for her sewing. She wanted to make more pool bags for her 4th grade Rendezvous coming up this week. (they can “buy” a business license and “sell” things using beaver pelts and practice bartering)
She made 5 more bags and 2 cell phone bags.
Isn’t it so good? She did it all by herself!
While the sewing machine was out, I made this bike basket for Novalie so she can take her stuffed friends along with her on bike rides.
After all that sewing, we went to the movies to watch Epic. Then a bike ride to the park.
On Memorial Day, we had to get our chores done in the morning, so Novalie could earn her friend playing for the day. She was in charge of dusting first and she had an allergy attack. After it was under control, she was back at it, but this time she wore her ski goggles to prevent the dust from getting in her eyes. It was quite the cleaning get-up. It makes me laugh. She insisted that she needed the scarf belt with hand sanitizer attached. As well as a floppy sun hat. Sure made cleaning more fun. She is hilarious.
Her and her BFF had a lemonade stand which they did in between slip n sliding. Boo in the hot pink race car was their mascot. Her racing jacket added to their racing theme lemonade stand. It worked, they made $15!
Enjoying our BBQ out on the deck! (I burnt the hot dogs AND the hamburgers….I am not a bbqer!)
Kevin and I watched Jack Reacher while these two spent all day outside playing.
It was a great long weekend!
